Dr. Deirdre Ryan, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Deirdre Ryan is the daughter of Irish immigrant parents and the granddaughter of a dairy farmer. She decided to become a veterinarian while bottle feeding a calf on her grandfather's farm.

Dr. Ryan graduated from Harvard University with a BA in psychology and received her doctoral degree from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. At Tufts she was awarded the Pharmacia & Upjohn Proficiency Award for high levels of achievement and interest in small animal medicine and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Student Surgery Award for excellence in small animal surgery. She then completed post-doctoral training as an intern at the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA.

However, she missed clinical practice and returned to her true passion of caring for companion animals. In 2017 Dr. Ryan founded VetValet to provide in-home quality veterinary care for pets and convenience for owners, and is now a founding partner of ADAvet.

Dr. Ryan lives with her husband, three daughters, two dogs and two cats in Wayland, MA. Outside of work her interests include hiking, skiing, tennis and travel. She loves learning about other people, cultures and viewpoints. Most importantly she is a proud hockey, lacrosse, crew mom!
